Human Resources Coordinator
Job Description
Reporting to the Human Resources Director for the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI), the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for the HR activities for the OVPRI and for coordination of HR transactions in institutes and centers. Within OVPRI, responsibilities include coordination of recruitment, performance management, position descriptions, job analysis and classification, compensation and related university programs. The HR Coordinator collaborates with managers and supervisors in assigned research areas to effectively apply university policy and process HR related transactions for Research Faculty. The Coordinator will also work as part of administrative and HR teams, including university HR, to address emerging issues in HR practices, and to develop and implement creative solutions that support the delivery of innovative HR programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent level education and experience, in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with a full range of HR programs such as recruitment and selection, job analysis, classification and compensation, and employee relations.
- Experience working with line managers to interpret and apply policies, guidelines in HR law.
- Experience preparing and analyzing HR related materials such as position descriptions, recruitment advertising, and performance plans.
- Knowledge of HR systems for position classification, compensation, and performance management with the demonstrated ability to apply to a variety of occupational classes.
- Knowledge of standard office software operations with the ability to use computer technologies to generate reports, analyze data, and effectively use enterprise wide data technology.
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and problem solving skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Banner HRIS or similar ERP software.
- Experience using Page Up (or similar applicant tracking system) to post position vacancies, and screen candidate pools.
- Experience in recruitment and sourcing of professional and research positions.
- Experience in analysis of jobs, position description, recruitment actions, and HR related data.
- Knowledge of techniques for job classification and categorization used in compensation analysis.
- Knowledge of VT HR policies and of the VT Faculty handbook.- Current PHR or SPHR certification.
