The Community
This year, U.S. News and World Report ranked the city of Fayetteville as the 4th best place to live in the United States-after Austin, TX, Denver, CO, and Colorado Springs, CO and ahead of Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, San Francisco, CA, and Raleigh/Durham, NC. This honor is well-deserved and understood to anyone who has lived here. Fayetteville is located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains in the Northwest corner of the state. Fayetteville is a true college town with bustling farmers markets, remarkable arts and theater, outstanding outdoor recreation, a strong economy, and a mild climate year-round. Fayetteville is adjacent to three other small cities that also have great amenities-Bentonville, Rogers, and Springdale. Public and charter schools are outstanding and ranked as some of the top schools nationally.
The Qualifications
The successful applicant will have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Public Health or a related field, a strong and consistent record of high-impact peer-reviewed publications, and a record of robust external research funding from federal sources. The successful candidate will have expertise related to fields such as those noted above. Demonstration of excellent teaching, service, and leadership skills are also required. Interest in transdisciplinary collaboration will be beneficial, because the Center will link individuals with complementary expertise across the University. Commitment to diversity in all its forms is required. Arkansas has substantial health disparities related to factors such as race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status.
