Communications Strategist - Deputy Program Lead
kglobal is a full-service communications firm based in Washington, DC. We have an immediate opportunity for a Communication Planning and Assessment Professional/Deputy Team Lead to support our Navy customer in Arlington, VA. This position will support long-range strategic communication planning and assessment. In this role, you will develop and implement strategies to communicate with key audiences, and conduct assessments to measure the impact of campaigns. The ability to learn and adapt quickly, think critically, develop solutions to address complex problems, and communicate effectively is essential. The successful candidate will be a proactive, hard-working, and well-organized professional who excels at working with a team as well as individually. Please note that an active DoD Secret clearance is required for this position.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct strategic communication planning based on extensive research and collaboration with stakeholders
- Serve as part of the leadership team, supporting both junior teammates and our government client
- Engage in communication integration and alignment efforts across various directorates and monitor tactics execution
- Identify key audiences and develop public affairs messaging and outreach plans based on research and analysis
- Identify broad trends and specific findings, leveraging both on behalf of lessons learned to shape future communication efforts
- Track, aggregate, and conduct media analysis of events, operations, policy changes, or other developments of interest to the client
- Translate broad concepts and complex processes into strategic messaging and talking points
Who You Are:
Along with being an excellent problem-solver, intellectually curious, and academically rigorous, the following traits, education, and experience will be essential to your success in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related area of study
- 9 years of relevant experience in the communications field is required
- Experienced in leading teams and comfortable providing guidance, direction, and mentorship as needed
- Proactive, hard-working, and well-organized
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strong methodological approaches to effectively measure impact
- Experience identifying and leveraging third-party advocates and influencers
- Knowledge of U.S. military policies and priorities
- Proven research, writing, and editing skills
- Knowledge of/ability to conduct Twitter and social media analytics
- Demonstrated experience developing and employing Boolean search strings
- Demonstrated experience with policy or communications research and assessment
- Experience with media monitoring platforms including Cision, Sprinklr, etc. preferred
- You excel working as part of a team as well as individually
- Experience working with defense and/or government entities is a plus
