Director of TRIO Talent Search/Upward Bound
Emporia State University is accepting applications for the Director of TRIO Talent Search/Upward Bound programs. This is a full-time, year-round position that is contingent upon continued program funding (limited-term). It is based in Emporia, KS.
Position Summary:
The Director of TRIO Talent Search/Upward Bound is responsible for the implementation and management of the two federal grant programs within the university community. The Director is charged with leadership for both programs, inclusive of program budgets and databases; recruitment of middle and high school students; design, implementation, and supervision of all educational outreach programming; and preparation of the Annual Performance Reports for the Department of Education.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Supervise educational specialists, administrative assistant, and student employees.

Coordinate the ESU office and off-campus offices for Talent Search in Leavenworth, and Atchison.

Gather, prepare and submit the necessary documentation to the US Department of Education for the annual performance reports.

Develop, implement, and monitor the program budgets.

Provide appropriate tracking methods to coordinate accounting functions of two grants.

Be responsible for fostering continued growth related to current developments associated with program objectives.

Develop and implement age-appropriate services for middle and high school participants.

Lead preparations for special projects, summer programming, and family programs.

Maintain appropriate communication with all university departments, targeted middle schools and high schools and personnel within the schools, community organizations that will enhance the programs, and others that will promote the programs and the students.
Qualifications:
Successful applicants will have a master’s degree or higher in counselor education, teacher education, higher education, business administration, social services or related field with three-five years’ experience in program management and budget development. This individual must be goal oriented with strong leadership skills. Must have the ability and experience to motivate, develop, and direct professional staff. Preferred experience in a TRIO program or experience working with underrepresented populations. Familiarity with current TRIO program legislation and regulations is also preferred.
Salary Range: 49,200 (Minimum) - $52,500 (Maximum) Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is also included.
