Chorister-training program for children; children's choir sings periodically, both separately and with the adult choir. Three-manual Aeolian-Skinner (1957)/Austin (2001) organ. Position reports to the rector. Parish experience and master's degree or equivalent preferred. Competitive salary and benefits. Supplemental income from weddings and funerals.
Although St. Martin's was an overwhelmingly white, suburban congregation for most of the 20th century, we now strive to be a place of radical welcome and inclusion for people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, races, colors, sexual and gender expressions, en route to becoming the Beloved Community. The congregation is particularly active, and the parish has a strong commitment to music and liturgy. The parish website, www.stmartinec.org, portrays much of the congregation's energy and priorities.
Under a new Director of Music, the parish intends to maintain its musical excellence while expanding its repertoire to reflect the richness of the Anglican Communion. Building the children's music program is a priority. In addition to providing musical leadership of the first rank, the organist/choirmaster will be expected to work pastorally with the choirs and collegially with the rector and other clergy, lay staff and volunteers.
